Listen now: Markus Schulz 8 hour set from Stereo Montreal

Yesterday Markus Schulz gave an incredible gift to his fans by uploading his entire 8 hour rabbit hole set from Stereo Nightclub in Montreal. This set was spun infront of a sold out crowd which started in the wee hours of the morning and lasted until around noon during the Thanksgiving weekend.

Here is Markus Schulz himself describing the set in his own words:

A privilege and an honor - the best way to describe playing one of the best clubs in the world, Stereo in Montreal, or ((( )))
Montreal is a very unique place in the world of clubbing. When everyone else is going to bed, the Montreal clubbers are just getting their night started. I was given the task of helping them celebrate Canadian Thanksgiving in the early hours of Monday October 14.
As a sincere thank you to everyone for your support and appreciation throughout the year, including this year's DJ Mag Top 100 poll, this is a small way of saying thank you. This is the entire 463 minutes of my set at Stereo. No cuts, no edits, just exactly how it went down.
Hope you enjoy the journey. Just have some spare underwear handy in case you need it.
With love,
Markus x

The bond between Canadian fans and Markus Schulz continues to grow strong. Thank you for this gift Markus!

Nathan Barato names Stereo as his favourite club in the world

Toronto DJ/Producer Nathan Barato has just given massive props to one of the best clubs in Montreal (easily one of the best in Canada, if not the world) that locals like to lovingly call the Temple in a recent interview given to ibizabynight:

IBN: Which is your favourite club in the world?
Nathan: Its very hard for me to answer that..especially after being in Ibiza for the summer but I think Stereo in Montreal is number 1 for me. The sound, the size and the vibe are perfect for me.

If you've never been to Stereo in Montreal, then put it on your bucket list right now because it's well worth the trip.

DJ Mag releases top 100 clubs results *Updated

Canadian results:

  • #22 - Guvernment (Toronto)
  • #36 - Footwork (Toronto)
  • #62 - Beta Nightclub (Waterloo) (Thank you @DJMalek)
  • #69  - Circus Afterhours (Montreal)
  • #86 - Stereo (Montreal)

Last year it was Circus Afterhours that carried the flag as DJ Mag's top Canadian club at #19 while the Guvernment came in at #27. Beta was ranked at #40 while Footwork and Stereo were unranked in 2012. Klub OMFG from Alberta was ranked #49 while Cobra London came in at #44 in 2012, but both clubs did not make the 2013 cut.

From what I noticed from this year vs. last year was that Circus Afterhours, the Montreal afterhours club, was engaged in an active campaign in 2012 to encourage fans to vote and as a result they were awarded the 19th spot in the 2012 rankings. This year, I have noticed virtually no campaigning of any kind from either Circus or Stereo, while Guvernment in Toronto was by far the most active campaigner in 2013, highlighted by this promotional video.

The takeaway lesson is that if you want to rank high in the DJ Mag rankings in the future, you must invest a lot of time and effort and in return your fans will take the time to vote for you.
