Boys Noize "Starwin" (Official Music Video)

No social commentary here as the official video for "Starwin" is just a nice video of a few roller skaters showing off their moves on a nice summer day. "Starwin" is the most mellow and easy going track off of Boys Noize "Go Hard" EP, and this video complements it perfectly:

Boys Noize and Skrillex will be taking their Dog Blood collaboration on the road to Canada as they make their Canadian debut July 13th at the New City Gas in Montreal, and July 14th at the Bluesfest Festival in Ottawa. Download it for free here.

Pretty Lights has really outdone himself this time by spending a year creating his own samples by recording and composing his own music for this album. If you don't believe me, check out Derek Smith (AKA Pretty Lights) working yet having fun while creating "A Color Map of the Sun" in this 26 minute mini-documentary. To create a new album of such quality and to release it for free is an amazing feat. The money he earns is mostly generated from his live tour, so if you enjoy Pretty Lights music and want to support him, go to one of his events this year.

Happy Canada Day! Here's a list of Canadian talent that you should know about

Canada Day is here and to celebrate the 146th birthday of this nation, EDM Canada has compiled a list of producers/DJs from coast to coast that you should get to know. There is plenty of top line Canadian talent present on the electronic dance music scene, and these names represent only a short list of what is truly out there. Enjoy!

Toronto

Deadmau5

There's really no need to introduce this monster producer, is there?

Zeds Dead

This duo from Toronto has been at the top of the bass genre for quite a while and that's where they'll remain for a long time to come.

Flipside

Founder of PBR Recordings, Flipside has been a major force in the Toronto underground scene for a long time.

Autoerotique

He's on Steve Aoki's roster for Dim Mak Records, and if you haven't had the chance to check out his latest NSFW video for asphyxiation, now's your chance:

Arnej

Arnej is a dance floor crusher by always bringing the darker side of trance to the limelight. He's traveled all over the world, recently a part of Armin's A State of Trance 600 party in Mumbai, and is a part of Markus Schulz Coldharbor Recordings.

Grandtheft

Hailing from Toronto, Grandtheft has been making a lot of waves recently thanks in part to his tremendous remix of A-Trak and Tommy Trash's  "Tuna Melt". He will also be apart of Diplo's Mad Decent Block Party later this month in Toronto.

Dzeko and Torres

This duo from Toronto has really busted on the scene in 2013 thanks to their no holds barred big room style that has left an indelible impression on fans and fellow producers alike.

Marcus Visionary

Marcus has been around the jungle/drum and bass scene for 2 decades.

Rene LaVice

This Toronto drum and bass producer has been on a hot streak thanks in part to his warmly received album and playing infront of big crowds at EDC New York and EDC Las Vegas.

Nathan Barato

For the past 15 years, Nathan Barato has been a strong presence in the Toronto underground scene. But recently he's been increasingly gaining more international exposure as he's played at places like Pacha NYC and Ibiza so far in 2013.

Montreal

Tiga

Tiga is a legendary DJ/producer from Montreal and head of Turbo Recordings. If you haven't had the chance to see him perform his epic sets live, then you're clearly missing out.

A-Trak

Head honcho of Fool's Gold Recordings, A-Trak is also a major talent from Montreal and has consistently been on some of the biggest stages that electronic dance music have to offer.

Max Graham

Formerly from Ottawa, Max Graham is a legendary trance producer/dj who still delivers on almost every level thanks to his productions, live sets, and radio show. His most recently track called "The Evil ID"  has been on regular rotation in the biggest trance radio shows and will go down as one of the best trance tracks of 2013.

Vilify

If you like bass music and if you live in Montreal then you've definitely heard of Vilify. She's been hosting her own underground nights and has been opening for some of the biggest names in the bass genre.

Paris and Simo

These guys have been making a big splash in the big room genre, and with a track made with 3LAU currently at #3 on the overall Beatport Chart, these guys from Montreal are ones to watch for 2013.

Lunice

One half of TNGHT, Lunice is a name that has exploded onto the scene in 2013. Aided by his strong productions, Lunice is also known for his amazing personality behind the decks as he delivers powerful live sets across the world.

Ottawa

Ryan Hemsworth

Formerly from Halifax and now Ottawa resident, Ryan Hemsworth has had a huge 2013 thanks to his strong productions and frequently featured on top music publications such as Rolling Stone, Pitchfork, and more.

A Tribe Called Red

With their second album, Nation II Nation, longlisted nominee for the 2013 Polaris Music Prize, A Tribe Called Red's ascendency has just begun. Known for combining dubstep and other elements on top of First Nation music, A Tribe Called Red can be described as "powow-step". Their music is not for the weak as their beats deliver a powerful punch everytime I listen to it. They will be playing at Ottawa's Bluesfest on July 10th.

Calgary

Mark Instinct

Mark is a 26 year old bass producer/DJ from Calgary and has been around the bass scene for a few years and is one of the biggest talents to emerge out of Western Canada.

James Bayliss

He's one of the prime flag bearers for hardstyle in Canada and has had a presence in major hardstyle events in Europe by working with Q-Dance via his monthly radio show. If Q-Dance comes to Canada you better believe that James Bayliss will be there.

Kelowna

Excision

Excision is one of the biggest names in dubstep and has recently launched a live electronic music band called Destroid with Downlink, and KJ Sawka. This producer brings his own power packed sound to each of his shows that guarantees bass in your face.

Datsik

Head of Firepower Records, Datsik is also one of the biggest names in dubstep and has collaborated with such artists as Noisia, Diplo, Nero, and The Crystal Method.

Vancouver

Felix Cartal

Along with Autoerotique, Felix Cartal is also signed to Dim Mak Records and has been in the EDM scene for many years. His live sets are uncompromising as he enjoys lighting up the dance floor with his powerful productions.

EDM Canada wishes you all a Happy Canada Day!
