Local Calgary community association worried about the Mad Decent Block Party

Mad Decent Block Party Calgary

As reported by CTV News:

"Residents of the nearby communities of Castleridge, Falconridge, and Martindale are worried the family oriented park won't be able to handle a festival the size of Mad Decent.  Marc Langlois, with the Falconridge-Castleridge Community Association, says the community was not consulted when plans for the outdoor concert was approved.

"The biggest worry is the after effect," says Langlois.  "What happens when the thing shuts down after eleven o'clock? If there's 4,000 people coming out of here where are they going to go?"

Union Events, the organizers behind the MDBP in Calgary, will be sending out flyers that will clearly indicate "times, security and traffic plans" to all houses within the vicinity of the event this week. Hopefully that will help clear up any concerns that Marc Langlois and the Falconridge-Castleridge Community Association may have.

The lineup for Calgary's Mad Decent Block Party is absolutely phenomenal with artists like Major Lazer, Zeds Dead, Dillon Francis, Flosstradamus, Big Gigantic and more booked for the July 19th event at Prairie Winds Park. Tickets are on sale now: $45-$50 for General Admission, and $79.50 for a VIP pass. Click here now for full event information.

Skrillex and Diplo form 'Jack U'

It appears Skrillex is enjoying the collaborative aspect of forming new groups with creative producers as he formally enters a new one with Diplo called Jack U:

So far there is little information to be had besides Diplo's tweet declaring the new collaboration. But if it is anything like Skrillex's association with Boys Noize with Dog Blood, we may be hearing some fresh tunes out of the OWSLA and Mad Decent bosses. I've been waiting to hear something out of these two ever since they toured together across Canada last year for the Full Flex Express Tour, but I was disappointed to see nothing materialize. But now I can finally get excited again as these two monster producers have laid the fertile ground for possible track collaborations in the near future. One can hope right?

So far Jack U is slated to play only at the San Diego Mad Decent Block Party (MDBP) but I expect this new super duo to be added to more MDBP lineups soon. Like in Toronto perhaps? So far Skrillex has yet to be booked in Toronto this summer and like I said in a previous post, the MDBP event in Toronto could use at least one more major addition to the lineup. We'll see.

Here's the official lineup video teaser:

I hope that the boys at Mad Decent pump up the Toronto lineup by adding another big DJ to the lineup as the Calgary's current lineup is simply stellar, with Dillon Francis, Big Gigantic, and Flosstradamus featured along with Zeds Dead and Major Lazer.
