Dave Grohl pokes fun at DJs in latest Soundgarden video

Dave Grohl directed the following music video for Soundgarden where Deadmau5 makes a surprise cameo appearance:

The DJ, who is played by the same actor in Calvin Harris' 'Bounce', and Zedd's 'Clarity' videos, is portrayed as a preposterous DJ caricature that's playing to an empty room and eventually calls the cops on Soundgarden when they unplug his laptop and take over the stage. I will spare you the blow by blow but eventually Soundgarden are 'caught' and are arrested by Deadmau5 dressed as a cop.

Is this video some kind of metaphor to suggest that EDM is now the 'man' and that DJs are trying to put down Rock and Roll? I could write a crappy English report on it if I was still back in my grade 6 English class.

Hilarious review of a DJ Pauly D event in Australia

Inthemix sent a "techno nerd" to cover a DJ Pauly D event in Sydney, here are some excerpts:

8:53pm – The DJ (apparently his name is Steve Play) drops Avicii’s Levels mashed with Gotye’s Somebody I Used To Know. This is the second time Levels has been played tonight.
9:03pm – A new act comes on stage....They open with Levels.
9:15pm – The vocalist starts an “Aussie, Aussie, Aussie” chant, presumably aware that today is Australia Day. Sadly, she chooses to do it during the breakdown of Swedish House Mafia’s Don’t You Worry Child and messes up her timing...
9:59pm – Levels. I burst into hysterical laughter...
10:05pm – Pauly plays Don’t You Worry Child...
10:38pm – The EDM returns with Gangnam Style and We No Speak Americano and Pauly proudly proclaims he is, quote, “the best in the world”. If there was anything left inside me that could die, I would say that part of me dies inside.
