Another excellent article from Philip Sherburne from SPIN discussing the tension between the need to create good music and having to play a constant stream of gigs as your only means to earn income in EDM.
Since you can no longer earn a good living simply producing music from the comfort of your own studio, producers have no choice but to DJ even though they might not like it or be good at it. These pressures can lead to a decrease of the overall creativity of top EDM producers. There are a lot of great topics covered in the article, check it out.

Philip Sherburne wrote an excellent breakdown of this year's DJ Mag Top 100 poll for Spin. I know the DJ Mag poll must be old news by now but this article really dives much deeper in an attempt to find meaning in the numbers.
It's hard to contain expectations for this event but I am quietly hoping that Boys Noize will deliver one of the best sets of the year next month in Montreal. I can't wait to hear some of my favourite tracks from his latest album 'Out of the Black' live - you can still hear it via Mixmag here.
The organizers behind Digital Dreams, one of the largest outdoor EDM events around Canada Day in the country, recently released their official recap video:
*Warning: The first half of the video has a lot of T&A and may be NSFW.
One of the best recap videos I've ever seen, well done. Tomorrowland has set the standard for these types of things but I can say that many festivals, now including Digital Dreams, have caught up.
For those wanting to get a hold of cheaper tickets for next year's Digital Dreams festival, which will be held on June 29th and 30th 2013, there will be $79 tickets available starting on Friday, November 16th at noon. Click here for the full details.
