Mayor Michael Bloomberg defends Electric Zoo

As reported by DNAinfo:

"There's something that he was involved with about a dozen years ago, but we've been working with this promoter, organizer, for the past five years and they have a stellar record,"

You cannot underestimate how important it was for the Mayor of New York to release such a positive statement about Made Event following such a horrible tragedy.

Meanwhile, Electric Zoo is offering a 33% refund for all ticket buyers due to the cancellation of day 3 of the event.

Day 3 of Electric Zoo in New York City has been canceled

The Office of the Mayor of New York City has just released a statement concerning the cancellation:

"FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
        PR-       289-13
  September 1, 2013

CANCELLATION OF ELECTRIC ZOO MUSIC FESTIVAL ON RANDALL’S ISLAND

Due to serious health risks, the Electric Zoo music festival on Randall's Island on Sunday, September 1st has been cancelled. The City recommended cancellation and the event promoters have agreed.

During the first two days of the Electric Zoo music festival, two concert-goers have died and at least four others became critically ill and have been placed in intensive care at area hospitals. Definitive causes of death have not yet been determined, however, both appear to have involved the drug MDMA (ecstasy, or molly).  The Electric Zoo organizers have worked with City officials to reduce health risks at this event, but in view of these occurrences, the safest course is to cancel the remaining day of the event"

So that's 2 deaths at Electric Zoo, on top of another death at a recent Zedd show earlier this week in Boston. This is absolutely horrific news and I am saddened and gutted by these deaths.

I've said it before and I'll say it again, you don't need to take any drugs or alcohol to have a good time at an electronic dance music event, all you need is the music.

Electric Zoo's phase 2 lineup

Electric Zoo is offering fans a diverse lineup this year with DJs from various genres sharing the main stages together. Made Events, the organizers behind Electric Zoo, has just released their phase 2 lineup today that offers a glimpse of the secondary stages. This year's edition will feature label takeovers from Fool's Gold, Boys Noize Records/OWSLA, Dim Mak, and Drumcode. Check it out:

I like the lineup but I had hoped there would have been a dedicated trance tent like in years past. That being said, I highly recommend checking out Electric Zoo as it is one the best organized festivals with some of the best food that I've ever tasted at an outdoor event.

Electric Zoo is held every year on Randall's Island Park in New York City. 3 day General Admission passes are now on sale for $359, while a 3-day VIP pass are $649. Click here for ticket information.
