Moby (Press Play Pro rating of 10/10)

Mord Fustang (7/10)

Danny Avila (9.5/10)

Did Dubstep peak?

DJZ has done a little research using Google Trends and found out that the keyword search for "dubstep" peaked in 2011 and has been declining ever since.

One interesting bellwether signal is that Zeds Dead, the Toronto duo known for such hard hitting bass, has taken a big step to diversify their sound with their latest 'Hot Sauce' EP. Whether this is a one-off or a sign of a bigger change in the EDM landscape will be seen with time.

Rumour: Is the Guvernment closing this year? (2014 update)

Toronto Trance DJ/Producer stoked the rumour mill last night on Twitter:

Rumours of the Guvernment closing has been circulating for years. But with the recent closing of the Warldorf hotel for condo development in Vancouver and news of the Ministry of Sound currently under threat from condo development next door, the rumour that one of Canada's most popular clubs closing does not seem completely far fetched as once thought.

Arnej seems convinced that Guvernment is closing its doors but without official confirmation from Ink (the owners of Guv and many other Toronto properties), this will remain just a rumour for now.

*Update: The official Guvernment Twitter account just tweeted this:

Update: Toronto Star: Guvernment "was recently sold to a developer"

May 1st, 2014 update: After 17 years of operation and nightlife leadership, the Guvernment and Koolhaus have officially announced that they will be shutting its doors on January 31st, 2015:
