Dillon Francis will be in 5 Canadian cities as part of his 'WURLD TURR' this Spring

Exciting news for cat lovers and moombathon fans alike as Dillon Francis will be hitting Ottawa, Montreal, Toronto, Victoria, and Vancouver this Spring as part of his 'WURLD TURR'.

Dillon Francis established himself in the scene with original tracks like I.D.G.A.F.O.S, Masta Blasta, and Music is Dead. But more recently he's shifted to making a lot of remixes of tracks from producers such as Madeon, Nicky Romero/Nervo, and Dada Life. But it's a safe bet that the combination of his music and his persona will draw a strong turn out for all of these events.

Dillon Francis will also be joined for the Canadian half of the tour with Oliver, who are about to release a very promising new EP, here's the preview:

This preview is outstanding and I am looking forward to the eventual release in 6 days.

Here are the Canadian dates for the WURLD TOUR:

Tickets go on sale Friday.

So Tomorrowland is coming to North America...Is it time to get excited?

Quite a few people in social media have been buzzing with the news that Tomorrowland will be expanding to every continent including North America. We later learned that the man behind the North American expansion is Robert Sillerman, the billionaire with a billion dollar budget and the ambition to own a significant chunk of the EDM organizations in America. He's already picked up Dayglow, a few Miami clubs, and now he will allegedly be behind future Tomorrowland and Sensation events in North America in a joint partnership with ID&T. Not bad at all for a year's work.

Part of the magic of Tomorrowland was the mystique of it being located in Belgium, it's limited number of tickets available for international buyers, the instant sell out, and the amazing structures that serve as stages for the DJs - all of that created a unique experience and provided it significant caché. So will Tomorrowland's expansion turn into an instant success in America? Probably. However, there remains significant competition in the North American scene as there is already a wide array of festivals to choose from including Ultra, EDC, Electric Zoo, Hard, and Coachella.

The more important question to ask: what's new that's being brought to the table? In most of these festivals the DJ lineups are almost always exactly the same. Was anybody really that surprised by the Ultra Music Festival phase 1 lineup? Can you predict the next EDC New York lineup? I bet you can. There is too much money behind these festivals to take a risk of anything other than the tried and true lineups that you see everywhere else.

The festivals that will survive this EDM boom are the ones that have managed to create a genuine community of fans that will assemble every year for the experience and camaraderie. From my perspective the short list for these North American festivals that have done this successfully so far are EDC Las Vegas, Coachella, Shambhala, and WEMF. All four of these festivals have created something special that goes beyond the music, which is a sense of community of shared experiences that cannot be easily replicated.

As the EDM boom rolls out in earnest over the next few years it will be the festivals that bring a sense of authenticity and community together that will survive and thrive. Tomorrowland has the opportunity to be a massive success and I hope Mr. Sillerman (in a joint venture with ID&T) gives the fans the respect they deserve and create a unique destination that surpasses all expectations. The bar is set very high so let's see what a billion dollars can bring to EDM.

Fresh tracks from Fake Blood, Lunice, and Skrillex/BNN

All of these tracks were all uploaded today so it can't get any fresher than this:

Wretch 32 - Pop (Fake Blood Remix):

This track was released only an hour or so ago but I'm already a big fan of this remix.

Lunice - Liason:

The sky's the limit for Lunice in 2013. He's been recently named the opening act for Major Lazer's world tour which will give him the proper stage to show off all of his enhanced cooking techniques.

A$AP Rocky feat. Skrillex and Birdy Nam Nam - Wild for the Night:

On the same day that A$AP Rocky is receiving a bunch of press following his Rolling Stone interview, Skrillex uploads his collab with the Harlem rapper and Birdy Nam Nam. Coincidence? I think not.

Watch this: 8 minute video on Moog

Jay-Z has a new(ish) site called Life+Times that features articles covering a range of topics including fashion, sports, cars, and music. The site also includes a video mini documentary series called 'The Blueprint' which featured Moog and their factory located in North Carolina:

It's good to know that Moog does their utmost to keep their production in-house while ensuring the highest quality.

*Bonus: The Blueprint also ventured off the beaten path to check out Oswaldsmill Audio. I'd love to get my hands on one of those Imperia speakers and test drive it with a little Scary Monsters and Nice Sprites.

HMV UK 'set to go into administration' *Updated*

*Update: HMV just tweeted this:

This is very good news for Canadian HMV stores and I'm happy to hear that none of this news from the UK affects any of the stores across Canada.

HMV will remain as my go to place to pick up all of my road trip music and I hope that they will be around for a long time to come.

Original Post:

HMV UK could be in the control of accounting firm Deloitte very soon.

It's still unclear what the effect of all of these activities in the UK will have on the HMV store locations in Canada. But it's still quite sad to see the once venerable HMV fall from grace as music purchases have largely moved onto the Internet.

Over the past year I have tried to support HMV by purchasing one or two CDs whenever I would take a long road trip as HMV still had an alright selection of electronic music CDs to choose from. Sadly there are still a lot of old compilation CDs from 2009-2011 that are waiting for a buyer but will probably never be sold unless at a steep discount.

As someone who was used to visiting HMV on weekends back in the day to check out the latest records I am saddened by this news.
