A few quick facts that you might not know about Ash Pournouri/Avicii

Found this interview with Ash Pournouri (via inthemix) to be quite interesting:

Cheat sheet:

  • Ash makes the point that Avicii remains an unsigned artist with no attachment to any label.
  • All of the costs of Avicii's tour and productions costs are paid by team Avicii.
  • Prior to managing Avicii, Ash Pournouri started off as a promoter in Stockholm.
  • Avicii has a team of less than 9, which is small as compared to the 35 people that work for Tiesto.
  • Ash first discovered Tim Bergling (aka Avicii) from hearing an early track from a few blogs.

I really like that last point.

Video: Watch a few thousand Parisian's sing along to 'Don't You Worry Child' at SHM concert

This footage is from a Swedish House Mafia concert as part of their 'One Last Tour' in Paris:

Here's another angle of the same moment:

Say what you will about the Swedish House Mafia, but it's clear to see that these fans are having a great time. It's pretty special to see tens of thousands of fans collectively get swept up in the same moment together.

Laidback Luke and fellow panelist Goodwill had some interesting things to say in response of Deadmau5's 'we all hit play' tumblr post in Australia:

Laidback Luke spoke about his reaction to the Deadmau5 argument. “I was very blunt with him,” he told the room. “It’s basically like saying that sex is just an up and down motion without actually naming the magic of it. Trying to explain what we do in such a way is just very basic and silly.”

“I can pretty much guarantee that he’s not going out to clubs and hearing good DJs DJ,” Goodwill added. “He’s playing at festivals after DJs that do play pretty plain sets.

Perfect analogy from Laidback Luke.

Tommy Sunshine was recently kicked off the decks at a NYC club

Tommy Sunshine was recently kicked off the decks at the W.i.P club in NYC. He was asked by the promoter to play "more commercial music with softer drops & more vocals" and was told that the clients thought he was playing "too hard".

So at this point you're probably thinking that he slipped in a Alan Fitzpatrick track or maybe a Headhunterz remix in there but apparently not. According to Tommy Sunshine he was playing tracks like "SHM, a Ke$ha remix, the Pitbull track in the new Bud Light commercial, Avicii...".
