Zeds Dead official response to the cancelled Philadelphia show

Zeds Dead posted the following message on Facebook in regards to their cancelled Philadelphia show on Dec 1st:

"We're really upset about our Philadelphia show getting cancelled, we were super excited to play and it looked like it was gunna be an amazing show. We will be back soon. Refunds available at point of purchase."

That was Zeds Dead response to a show that was cancelled due to "reports of overdoses range from four to twenty five, with as many as nine reported hospitalizations." I wish they could have acknowledged the reason why the event was cancelled and that some fans and families were affected.

RA's 'Top DJs of 2012' Poll Results

Resident Advisor just released their 'Top DJs of 2012' poll results - here's the top ten:

  1. Seth Troxler
  2. Richie Hawtin
  3. Dixon
  4. Maceo Plex
  5. Ben Klock
  6. Jamie Jones
  7. Loco Dice
  8. Ricardo Villalobos
  9. Tale Of Us
  10. Maya Jane Coles

Seth Troxler was one of the highlights for me at the Sonar Tour Festival in Toronto last month so seeing him make #1 this year is pretty interesting. I've been following his live sets via Be-At.Tv and there's something to be said about his track selection in combination with his personality behind the decks that can really make the party.

You can check out the full list here.

Trance Addict's Top 250 DJ Poll

The Trance Addict top 250 DJ poll rankings have been out for over a month but I haven't posted about it until now.

The top ten are:

  1. Armin Van Buuren
  2. Markus Schulz
  3. Above & Beyond
  4. Aly & Fila
  5. John O'Callaghan
  6. Lange
  7. Dash Berlin
  8. Gareth Emery
  9. Bryan Kearney
  10. Ferry Corsten

I am particularly happy to see Bryan Kearney making the top ten at 9 (up 22 spots) as it shows that the demand for 140 BPM Trance music is alive and well. Another notable entry is Coldharbour Recordings super producer KohMha making 19th (up 198 spots) this year. KhoMha's tracks have been played countless of times at major Trance events in 2012 so it's good that he receives the recognition that he deserves.

You can check out the entire ranking results here.

Mini-Documentary on the Paris Scene by RA

Resident Advisor traveled to Paris to cover their burgeoning electronic music scene:

The concept of a weekly Sunday afternoon party is something that appeals to me greatly because after attending too many of these late night events you start to having this feeling as if you're jet lagged in your own city.

Really nice video - the only thing I wished to have seen was for RA to talk to somebody from Bromance Records.
