Saturday, March 31st - Deadmau5 'Unhooked' @ Mansion Nightclub!

This event just snuck up on me as I just heard about it today (thanks for the tip off @theknwldg) but seems like Ottawa is getting their Mau5 on with another 'unhooked' gig from Canada's own Deadmau5!

He's here for the Juno awards on April 1st where he's nominated for a bunch (I counted 4) of Juno's this year. This is a pretty good time to check out Deadmau5 because for one this is an inpromptu event and since Deadmau5 is hard at work on a new album I wouldn't be surprised if he drops a lot of new sounds and tracks at Mansion.

Here's the information that you need:

Location: 400A Dalhousie, Ottawa, ON K1N 9J9

Supporting Act: Kardinal Offishall

Time: Doors open at 7:30 pm (according to Ticketweb.ca) or 8:00 pm (according to Mansion's event poster), closes at 4 am.

Tickets: $40 General Admission at ticketweb.ca

Swanky Tunes: Smaller Crowds, Huge Energy!

Two nights ago a select group of EDM lovers decended upon Barrymore's to experience a special night that was brought to you by two of the three super crazy and energetic trio called Swanky Tunes. These Russians never let up the entire night as you could see them both pump the crowd up and themselves with a certain energy that the crowd had almost no choice but to follow along and just go mad wild. Throughout their two and a half hour performance never did I see a let up of the energy in the dance floor (aka the constant trampoline) because if these Russians didn't quit, neither would we.

The music played through the first hour was good but their selection in the second hour really took it to the next level in a big way. Some notables included:

R3hab & Swanky Tunes ft. Max C. - Sending My Love (Original Mix)

Here's a nice mashup of one of the hottest tracks out there right now, Quasar by Hard Rock Sofa:

Dirty South & Daft Punk & Hard Rock Sofa - Coming Home to Aerodynamic Quasa (Zhand Reboot):

No set is complete with Dada Life - Kick out the Epic Motherf**ker:

Showing lots of love to the crowd

For the people that skipped this one I think you missed out on a really excellent set by Swanky Tunes because they definitely brought the fun to Ottawa that night.

Is AN21 coming to Ottawa on April 21st?

Found this little tweet from @AN21's twitter a few mins ago:

Come to "AN21 @ Barrymore's Music Hall - Ottowa, ON, Canada" 21 April from 23:00 to 02:00.

I give this tweet some pretty strong credibility but I won't put it in the calendar until DNA Presents announces it officially. But still though, pretty exciting annoucement! After reading a lot of positive reviews of the Max Vangeli show last month I'm sure it will only help bring considerable buzz for AN21's show.

Here's a little youtube documentary of AN21 & Max Vangeli during their NYE event in the UK. I was pretty impressed by it so I hope you enjoy watching it as well:

Bal en Blanc 2012 Trance Room Timeslots + Arty Added to House Room

I was already excited for this event but now my anticipation is through the roof after seeing the time slots for the BeB trance room. Also adding Arty (one of the hottest producers on the scene at the moment) to the House Room is just icing on the cake at this point. I almost couldn't book a better lineup myself if I was the guy in charge so I give the Playground Production team top marks.

Here's the trance room timeslots:

9:00 pm - 10:30 pm - Insomnia

10:30 pm - 11:30 pm - Omar El Gamal

11:30 pm - 01:00 am - Beat Service

01:00 am - 02:00 am - Jochen Miller

02:00 am - 05:00 am - Armin Van Buuren

05:00 am - 08:00 am - Markuz Schulz

08:00 am - 10:00 am - Ferry Corsten

10:00 am - 12:00 pm - Ben Gold

Looks like it's going to be a loooong night, I can't wait!

Here's a fun video I found today on Youtube of Ferry Corsten and Markuz Schulz discussing their upcoming gig in the UK:

Leon Bolier live set from ASOT 550 in Kiev, Ukraine

As anyone that has been reading this blog for any amount of time you would know by now that I'm a big fan of Leon Bolier and last weekend he was a last minute fill in for Armins' ASOT 550 live event in Kiev as Mat Zo was sick. Leon decided to share his live set on soundcloud which I had the pleasure to listen to tonight as I was updating this site:

You can find the original link to Leon Bolier's soundcloud here.

For me the highlights of his set were Jacob Van Hage's 'Convoi' and 'Vegeance Vengeance' by Leon Bolier later in the night.

Here's Leon Bolier's tour diary of ASOT 550 in Kiev from Youtube:
