Tiesto 'In the Booth' Episode 5 (Mexico, EDC Las Vegas)

I continue to be amused by these so let's continue to post them; this time Tiesto takes on Mexico and EDC Las Vegas. That EDC festival looks pretty intense but with 220,000 people what kind of view and dancing room will you have? I still prefer clubs to large outdoor festivals.

Tiesto at Escapade Music Festival (July 1st, 2011) Canada DayI wonder whether the Tiesto 'in the booth' series will be covering the Escapade Music Festival In Ottawa last year? The reason why I'm somewhat speculative on this is because the EDC Las Vegas stop last year was on June 26th, 2011 and when Tiesto hit Ottawa it was on Canada Day. That being said the next episode will be covering his stop in Bucharest which is actually before the EDC Las Vegas stop. One can hope though.

I remember hustling my a$$ off trying to get into that venue before Tiesto came on and around 30 minutes before he came out the parking lot was virtually empty. I was able to slip into the third row without the slightest difficulty. It was a bit surreal watching one of the top DJs in the world take the stage and feeling like it was almost like a private event for the first half of his set.

Some stuff I've been listening to

Loving this remix better than the original as you can always trust JOC to up the BPMs to any track:

Gareth Emery feat. Christina Novelli - Concrete Angel (John O'Callaghan Remix)

Afrojack & R3hab - Prutataaa (Dada Life Remix)

Dada Life - Kick Out The Epic Mother**cker

Zeds Dead - Adrenaline (fast forward to 0:40)

Sebastien Tellier - Divine (Danger Remix (Zeds Dead ReRemix)

Btw, Zeds Dead is going to be coming to Ottawa next Friday (Feb 17th) at Ritual Nightclub, for more info click here.

Sander Van Doorn Event Recap (Barrymore's, Feb 7th, 2012)

Ottawa welcomed Sander Van Doorn to the nation's capital with a sold out event yesterday as he rocked the crowd with 2 hours of relentless fun.

I first saw Sander Van Doorn in September 2011 when he played at the Electric Zoo in New York and in that event he primarily played vocal infused tracks back to back to back so I was pleasantly surprised to watch Sander switch it up a bit last night by offering a different sound.

The biggest crowd receptions (as in the crowd collectively jumping up and down which made the dance floor turn into a trampoline) were Sander Van Doorn's biggest hits that include Koko, Love is Darkness and more recent releases including Slap my Pitch Up, and Who's Wearing the Cap.

The biggest surprise of the night for me personally was how good Steve Jobs ft. Angger Dimas by Steve Aoki sounded live, it was a real banger! Prior to the show I was really on the fence on whether I really liked that track or not but now I love it. Granted I still believe that it's not the best sound to play in your bedroom but live at Barrymore's it's a guaranteed win.

Not the best quality photo but I love how it shows the vibe and energy from the dancefloor

Sander Van Doorn stayed a little after this set to autograph anything for his fans (Check out the video below). It was another solid night for EDM in Ottawa!
