The Full Flex Express is coming back to Canada in 2013, but skips Ottawa

Just in case you missed my blog post on the main page, the Full Flex Express is coming back to Canada next summer but without Ottawa as a planned tour stop. This bums me out like you wouldn't believe because the Full Flex event at Bluesfest was one of my favourite events of the year with a fantastic full stage production for Pretty Lights and Skrillex.

It's a shame that Skrillex won't be bringing his Full Flex Tour to Ottawa next year but I still remain hopeful that Skrillex will be booked for either Bluesfest or Escapade as a consolation prize for his devoted fans.

Early Bird tickets already sold out for Laidback Luke on Oct 30th (+ Pics from last LL event)

I was a huge fan of Laidback Luke when he came for Canada Day back in July 2011 but I must confess that I thought he was only okay the last time he graced Barrymore's. But that didn't stop Ottawa fans who had plenty of love to give LL as the dance floor was jammed packed and lively for the entire set.

You can find below some pics I took from his last event:

The crowd went wild for Laidback Luke the entire night.

By the way, DJ Gina Turner and Laidback Luke got married today, congratulations!

A New Ottawa Trance Promotions Company Is Born

A little over ten days ago a new local promotions was created that will focus purely on trance music called OTS Productions. This is welcome news for all Ottawa trance fans because, let's face it, there are simply not enough trance events in our Nation's Capital. The new company is founded by DNA Presents own Kyle Landry who assured me that OTS Productions will focus on bringing great trance acts to Ottawa.

The first OTS Productions night will be on Friday, October 12th at the Bijou Nightclub with Montreal's Trance duo Project Offset. These guys have been lighting up the Montreal trance scene for a while with their residency at the world-class CIrcus Afterhours nightclub. Their latest event was one of their most prominent as they were given the honour as being the sole Montreal opening act for the Coldharbour Recordings night at Circus that occurred over Labour Day Weekend which featured trance talents KhoMha and Mr. Pit.

The inaugural OTS Productions night will bring some much needed hard hitting trance to Ottawa, something that this city hasn't seen since Aly & Fila during Escapade or Paul Van Dyk back in the Spring. To get a better sense of what kind of DJs Project Offset are you can check out their Soundcloud page or listen to their regular Podcast titled Crowd Control.

Here's the latest Crowd Control Podcast mix with special guest Styller:

If you are a trance fan in Ottawa then show your support by heading over to Bijou Nightclub on October 12th! Tickets can be purchased at the door for only $12.

Going to Dada Life this weekend? Get ready for it by listening to these two sets

The Electric Zoo was over a few weeks ago but the live sets are still available over the Internet to be enjoyed by you and me. Here are two recent sets of Dada Life and Adrian Lux from New York City over Labour Day weekend:

Dada Life:

Besides all of the great Dada Life original productions I really do hope that Dada Life keeps Ralvero - Rage in their set because it sounds so good live.

Adrian Lux:

There are a lot of familiar anthems in this set but I would expect Adrian Lux to showcase more of his tracks this weekend as he will be taking the role of the opener at CE Centre.

JC Boom's House Mix and special House set on Sept 17th at Zaphod's

Known more for his Dubstep productions and DJ sets, local DJ JC Boom and label head of Capital Boom Records has decided to mix his style up with a new House mix recently released on Soundcloud:

I've been rocking to it for the last half hour or so, nice work! To coincide with this release JC Boom will be featured at Lowpass' Electronic Mondays on September 17th at Zaphod's. JC Boom stated on Twitter his set will focus on some deep tech house sounds so this should be a good one.

Good morning EDM Ottawa viewers, welcome to my new site!

After starting up EDM Ottawa 8 months ago with a non-existent marketing budget, the site has been visited over 30,000 times with nearly 11,000 unique visitors.

This morning you are seeing for the first time my vision to transform the EDM Ottawa site by integrating it into an overall national framework comprising of 7 other major Canadian cities. To read more about this you can check out my first post on my main blog area.

So what will this mean for EDM Ottawa? The Ottawa blog will remain here but focus purely on anything interesting and relevant to the Ottawa scene while the 'Ottawa Calendar' section will still remain and be an excellent listing of all of the latest EDM events in the National Capital Region. The only change is that  all of the EDM news, opinions, Canadian tour news and music features will be found in the main blog area.

I'm really happy with the new site and I sincerely hope that you will be too.
