Forza Horizon 2 is the game that electronic dance music fans deserve

I recently got the privilege to review the game Forza Horizon 2, one of the hottest releases on Xbox One. Why you ask? It's because the game designers have done a lot to cater the game experience to electronic dance music fans like myself and I am here to tell you that they have delivered.

The journey starts at the sign in screen where you have Keeno's "Nocturne" playing in the background as the game waits for your credentials before you can proceed. Once you're in, you're greeted with a splash cinematic sequence of a bunch of young 20-somethings jetting off on a road trip to an off the beaten path music festival. Once you've picked your style of car, which ranges from the the American muscle type, a sporty compact, or a BMW, you are vaulted into the game. One of the first tracks played while cruising the French Rivera in my BMW was "Liberate" by Eric Prydz:

The first objectives are simple, and are designed to get your feet wet as you learn the ins and outs of your vehicle. The first task is simple, get into the top 3 and you'll receive a "festival wristband". As you race a few AI cars to the finish line, you end up at an EDC styled festival at night which is quite the sight to behold. The graphics are simply beautiful and with over 200 cars to choose from, there's no end to the different possibilities that you can try in the game.

"NRG" is the track playing while reviewing your race results - cool!

There is a lot to do in Forza Horizon 2, including winning a set of races contained within the open world map that will eventually get you to the grand final championship. But you are by no means pushed to accomplish that as you can just feel free to ride off anywhere you like, crash into other cars, race through speed traps, and even try "bucket list" challenges. My favourite of these include getting to test out the super fast Koenigsegg Agera and try to go as fast as possible through the various speed traps. Other fun open world things that I enjoyed doing include driving to the nearby French airport to try out my drifting skills without pesky trees to interfere with my flow.

Once you start winning a few mini-championships, you start to unlock new radio stations on top of the EDM friendly "Bass Arena". My favourite by far is the Hospital Records station that gave me my dose of proper drum and bass. I have never played a racing game with drum and bass before but let me tell you that these two things go together like butter on toast. The station features tracks from the likes of Logistics, Netsky, S.P.Y, Camo & Krooked, and so much more. Here's the full tracklisting below:

If you're looking for a last minute gift for that electronic dance music fan in your life this holiday season, then Forza Horizon 2 might be a game worth considering.
