Hardwell, Carl Cox, and New World Punx named as three headliners for Bal en Blanc 2014

Some big news has just arrived for those wanting the latest lineup information on next year's Bal en Blanc party. Playground Productions, the organizers of Bal en Blanc, revealed the 3 big headliners for the 20th edition of Bal en Blanc for 2014. Hardwell, Carl Cox, and New World Punx have all been named as the big 3 headlining acts that will be leading the way for each stage on Sunday, April 20th. What's also interesting is that next year's Bal en Blanc festivities will have 3 big stages which will appeal to a much broader crowd.

It's no surprise that Hardwell,  the new #1 DJ as voted by the DJ Mag poll will be the head honcho over at Arena 1, while the legendary Carl Cox will be bringing his "Carl Cox and Friends" party over to Arena 2. It's been a while since the iconic Carl Cox has graced Montreal with his presence, so it's with little doubt that his booking will please the huge number of Montreal underground fans. Arena 3, which I will dub the trance stage will have the New World Punx, the collaborative group between Ferry Corsten and Markus Schulz, as the big headlining act. Traditionally Armin Van Buuren was always the go-to name to head the trance stage in the past, so leading with NWP is an interesting choice. You've got to remember that Armin Van Buuren will be in Toronto for his massive Armin Only concert the night before, so the likelihood of Armin of being booked for Bal en Blanc are still good.

Tickets will go on sale on December 14th at noon and general admission tickets will start at $99 for the first 1,000 sold (+$49 for a VIP upgrade). Click here for more information.

Deorro has just released a massive bootleg pack available to download for free. It contains 11 tracks, and according to YourEDM, it's composed of 3 originals, two remixes, and six bootlegs. Deorro himself confessed that all of these tracks were his own private edits and personal VIP tracks, and the reason why he's releasing them now was that there was simply too much demand for them from his fans. Interview preview (4/4): Super8 & Tab talk about "Trance 2.0"

This week I had the chance to engage with the Finnish trance duo Super8 & Tab in an amazing interview that I hope all of you will read when it's released later today. In the final part of this mini-series, Super8 & Tab (Miika: Super8 and Janne: Tab) answered my question about whether the term "trance 2.0" is still valid today:

EDM Canada: Back in early 2012 there was a lot of talk about “trance 2.0”, is that concept dead in the water today or is still living?

Miika: That's the evolution, trance is at the 2.0 stage right now but people have taken that label away.

Janne: Trance has always been changing and getting influenced from other genres as well. If you look at the way trance was sounding in 1994 as compared to 2002, and 2013, you can see the journey that trance has taken. So maybe we're in trance 3.0 today.

Miika: Maybe we're in trance 2.5.

Janne: 2.14.

Miika: Trance has changed, it's just that people don't talk about it anymore.

Janne: They accept that it is changing. It's the same thing with house music, and even techno is changing.

Get ready to read the full interview when I post it later today! I hope this little preview has whetted your appetite because it will be worth your time to check it out.

Super8 & Tab will be stopping in Calgary tomorrow night at Marquee, and on Friday in Vancouver at Celebrities.

The ticket giveaway is nearing its conclusion as I have already awarded tickets for tomorrow's show in Calgary, but you still have a chance to enter the Vancouver contest for free tickets! Click here to find out how.

Check out the official video for Arty's latest track "Flashback"

Some of my favourite EDM videos are animated, but the artwork created for this latest video for Arty's "Flashback" is truly amazing. It's created in the comic book style, and tells a story eerily familiar to the horror film Apollo 18, check it out:

On a side note, I'm really happy to see Arty create the kind of music that first made me become his fan a few years ago.
