The official dates for EDC Las Vegas 2014 are set

The dates for the 2014 edition of the Electric Daisy Carnival have been revealed as over 300,000 fans will descend to the Nevada desert from Friday, June 20th until Sunday, June 22nd 2014 for a massive 3 day/night festival. Pasquale Rotella, the head of Insomniac Events which organizes EDC, wanted to reminded us all at how epic EDC Las Vegas was this year by releasing an amazing 7 minute video that showed off all of the extra production value which leaves fans wanting more:

Did you notice the lack of DJs featured in this video? Pasquale really believes that the true headliner is you, the fans, and the experience one gets when you visit his fantasy world. I think that's pretty cool if you ask me.

I have little doubt that thousands of Canadians will be making the trek to Las Vegas in 2014 to experience the next edition of EDC, so plan ahead, call friends, and get ready. "Headliner Loyalty Tickets" for EDC Las Vegas 2014  will be on sale on November 25th, while "early owl" (aka early bird) will go on sale on December 2nd. Be sure to check back once the proper ticket links are revealed.

Free download: Henry Fong 13 track bootleg pack mix

Up and coming DJ/Producer Henry Fong recently hit the 50k "like" mark on Facebook and has decided to reward fans with a massive 13 track bootleg pack, check it out:

The bootleg pack is available for free download, but requires a "like" to access it. For 13 free tracks, clicking a "like" button does seem more than fair. MAKJ has named Henry Fong as someone to watch, so make sure to keep an eye out for this talent.

Azari & III call it quits

It looks like the Canadian group Azari & III have split. According to a Facebook post by group member Alphonse Alixander Lanza III:

"Ladies and gentleman, boys and girls, the art project known as AZARI & III has done its work, run its course and is, for all intents and purposes, a momentary blip in time, now forever imprinted on the Universe."

Update: Not all is lost as a new project called "Aeon of the Phoenic" is on the horizon.

Porter Robinson is going "nostalgic" and "non-EDM" for his debut album

Porter Robinson, known for his creative and powerful live sets, is planning to change gears for his debut album. As Billboard reports, Porter plans for his first album to be "nostalgic", "lo-fi", and "non-EDM":

“I wanted to do something that felt beautiful and emotional and that felt nostalgic,” describes Robinson. “I think it sort of employs the pretty vibe of the last couple songs I put out, like ‘Language’ and ‘Easy,’ but I wanted a vintage sound. Something that was a little more lo-fi-inspired. It has a bunch of weird tempos that dance people aren’t really doing. There’s no DJ-friendly intro and outro. It’s meant to be listening music. It’s not a party record at all.”

Porter Robinson's debut album is expected to be released early in 2014. Click here to read the full article.

If you live in Calgary, Porter Robinson will be making his only Canadian stop before the year closes on Saturday, December 28th in Calgary as part of PURE at the BMO Centre. If the Billboard article is to believed, this may be one of his last DJ sets for a while as he hinted of a future live show experience in the works. Click here to purchase your ticket now.
