Is Q-Dance coming to Canada?

As reported by inthemix:

"In its presentation, the company also revealed plans to bring its hardstyle flagship Q-dance to three North American sites, which according to a map graphic appear to be in California, Texas and Canada. "

This tidbit of information was gained at a recent media event in New York organized by ID&T, who are behind such major EDM festivals like Tomorrowland, Sensation, and Mysteryland to name a few. Q-Dance is a major hardstyle event organizer behind the famous Defqon.1 festival, which has a massive following in Europe. Could it be possible to see a Defcon.1 in Canada? If so, expect it to be located in Western Canada as hardstyle acts have consistently found an audience in cities such as Calgary, Edmonton, and Vancouver.

Watch this: Bassnectar interview

Bassnectar sat down with a rock blog for an interesting interview that delves into various topics that includes his take on EDM and the concept of DJs as the new rock star:

It's really refreshing to hear someone like Bassnectar define EDM in the same way that I like to think about it. Electronic dance music is inclusive as much as it is wide and varied, and there is an almost infinite amount of genres that cater to any taste or style of music.

Canada Day in Toronto heats up as Sasha, Guy Gerber, Audiofly have been announced for Electric Island

Canada Day in Toronto is shaping up to be an epic day for electronic dance music lovers as Electric Island has added serious heavyweight talent to their lineup for July 1st. Sasha, the legendary DJ who is in the midst of a US/Canada tour, will be the main headliner for Electric Island. He will attract many fans to this event thanks to his loyal fan base gained over the course of his career and bolstered by his latest 2-disc compilation Invol<3r released earlier this year.

Guy Gerber, who recently signed onto a DJ residency at Pacha Ibiza, will also be making an appearance at Electric Island. Being no stranger to playing day parties in Ibiza and all over Europe, Guy Gerber will be bringing that European underground sound to Toronto fresh from a straight month on tour in Europe.

Rounding out the lineup includes the duo Audiofly, Nightvision and local DJs Jeff Button, Rafwat & Chorniy.

Ticket prices for the Canada Day edition of Electric Island are very reasonable: $23.50 that includes a ferry ticket, or $17.50 without a ferry ticket. Don't hesitate to pick up your tickets now as I wouldn't be surprised to see a price increase down the road.
