Gareth Emery criticizes some fans for not allowing Trance to evolve

Gareth Emery went on Twitter today to hash out his thoughts about the importance for genres to keep on evolving. Here are a few selected Tweets from the conversation Gareth Emery had with his followers earlier today:

I don't believe most Trance fans are afraid of change, instead some fans might be a little apprehensive about a move towards mixing Trance with whatever is popular at the moment on the Beatport Top 10. This kind of approach to producing music might give the impression that the producer is no longer making music for the art but for other reasons entirely.

Simon Patterson parts ways with 140 BPM Trance

Quoted from a Simon Patterson interview with Beatsmedia:

"I cant do anymore with 140. People are just ripping people off. Same sounds, same effects, same arrangements. I am so bored. It used to be great but i really think it needs a massive kick up the ass. I hardly play it at all which is a shame because i loved it...I guess 8 years doing the same thing over and over takes it toll. All idea’d out! ...I am doing a lot of psy but toying with loads of other stuff. Breaks, techno and still making trance but not so traditional."

Simon Patterson released a free 140 Trance track called 'Zero Contact With The Humans' which coincides with the launch of his new website:

This track will be apart of his new upcoming album to be released this summer. Could 'Zero Contact With The Humans' be the last classic 140 track produced from Patterson? I completely support Patterson's new direction but I hope that he'll venture back to 140 styled tracks from time to time.

Azealia Banks posts an email on her Tumblr/Instragram

Azealia Banks just tweeted a link to an email that she threatened to post a few days ago:

It's safe to assume that the post above was in response to Baauer's comments to the Daily Beast which was summarized by Pitchfork:

"Now, Baauer has responded to Banks. In interview with the Daily Beast, Baauer explained that he had planned to release a version of the song with Banks quite a while ago. But when her verse wasn't up to snuff, he pulled the plug on the collaboration and went ahead with the instrumental version of the song."

"She laid something on 'Harlem Shake' and it was so/so. Didn't love it," he said...So we told her, 'Please don't release your version.' And she said, 'Well, I'm going to put it online anyway.' And we said, 'Please don't. We'd really like it if you didn't.' And she did."

I wonder how much further this back and forth is going to go.

Tomorrowland expands to new international destination on September 27-29th

Teaser video:

There is no official indication where the new location of TomorrowWORLD will be held but with all of the recent news of SFX-ID&T's partnership all signs are pointing towards a U.S location.

EDM Snob was quick to the draw in claiming that the new location will be in Atlanta, Georgia:

I hope that the location will ultimately be a little closer to the Canada-US border so that Canadians can take a short road trip to the event. Overall this is very exciting news for such a high demand festival as Tomorrowland.

Facebook troll group took aim at W&W during ASOT 600's broadcast in Mexico

A Facebook group called 'Trance Producers Trolls' aimed their sights on Dutch duo W&W on Saturday night during A State of Trance 600 in Mexico City. 'Trance Producers Trolls' galvanized their supporters to use the 'poop' emoticon on W&W's page:

(VIA Trancefix)

The reason given by 'Trance Producer Trolls' own Facebook page was to "let those trousers understand no place for shitty music in ASOT!" combined with "come on we gonna caption this , the worst day in their life!" Following the mass messages of "poop", Trance Producers Trolls, a page with 18,000 likes, claimed that "more than 2000" were banned from the W&W Facebook page.

Meanwhile various Trance DJs have spoken vocally on Twitter in support of W&W:

The creators of 'Trance Producers Trolls' remains unknown as their About page describes them as "Trance Producers Trolls is just to make you laugh nothing personal, make some memes and post them on wall or send them as msg . cheers." Their targets have recently extended beyond the Trance genre when they asked their group to "poop" on Steve Aoki's 'Tag Yo Self!' pictures on Facebook.

While there remains a lot of opportunities for constructive criticism in the EDM world, simply trolling DJ fan pages is counter-productive and paints a negative picture for Trance fans all over the world.

W&W is slated to play in four more A State of Trance 600 events including Kuala Lumpur, Miami, Guatemala City, and New York.
