Certainly the Las Vegas mega clubs are chasing the trends here but it's hard to give Las Vegas the crown when they have recently kicked off DJ superstars like Mark Farina and Calvin Harris off the decks. While the big name DJs have a hot spot in Las Vegas they will be hard pressed to be considered as the main destination for EDM until parts of that scene cater to more underground sounds that Ibiza successfully manages to balance.
I found the Hollywood Reporter's view on the festival to be entertaining to read because the author was writing about the EDM genre from the perspective of pop music which was made clear by referencing remixed tracks from Rihanna, Will.i.am, and Kelly Clarkson.
